According to the Great Place to Work survey, our strengths are our good team spirit and pride in what we do. Flexible work and trust shown by members of the management were also often present in employee opinions.
The list of the best places to work in Finland, based on the Great Place to Work Institute's survey, was released on 10 February 2017. This year, Rapal came in 22nd in the general series (50–499 employees). The GPtW survey is mainly based on an employee survey which identifies whether or not employees regard their own organisation as a good place to work. The survey also analyses the HR management practices and processes of companies.
Rapal's employees fully agreed, for example, with the following claims:
- My workplace has a friendly atmosphere (100%)
- I am able to take time off when necessary (98%)
- Here, employees are given a lot of responsibility (98%)
- My input is important (97%)
Open comments frequently thanked the flexibility of work and the trust shown by members of the management towards employees. The following examples are direct quotes from the employee survey.
- “People are trusted and I believe that everyone responds with their input.”
- “Flexibility in balancing time spent at work and at home is in a league of its own. We can work shorter weeks or work remotely from, say, Australia. ”
Tuomas Kaarlehto, CEO of Rapal, considers the GPtW survey to be an effective tool to develop the working community: “Development is our number one goal and our annual position in the GPtW list is a good indicator of how we have done in our competition against ourselves.”
Anssi Hirvikoski, chief service officer at Rapal, would like to thank the company's employees for Rapal being yet again among the best places to work in Finland. “Rapal has always had a unique team spirit, and we have wanted to strengthen it even further. Using our recreational fund, our employees are able to hold different culture and exercise events throughout the year. We also encourage our employees to continuously thank one another and, to say thank you, we offer film tickets, different delicacies and extra bonus hours,” Hirvikoski says.
The Great Place to Work survey has also helped us to identify our weaknesses and, therefore, to make them better. In addition to our own working environment survey, the GPtW survey confirmed this year that our working environment is in need of an update. We have already taken action by modifying our office and piloting external workspaces.
Rapal employs approximately 70 building and real estate professionals and software developers. This year, Rapal made it onto the list of best places to work in Finland for the fourth time.
